PolicyPitch.com
PolicyPitch.com is ushering in a new era of participatory democracy by bringing the power to effectuate change to the people. Policypitch.com is a crowd-powered platform that allows ordinary citizens to pitch new public policy ideas at the local level, collaborate with others to refine and promote their policies, and transform that online communication into real world action. Our goal is to give ordinary citizens a direct voice in local government and enable them to influence change in their community.
Policypitch.com has a twofold approach to enabling ordinary citizens to influence change. (1) The first is through government transparency and legislative tracking. We currently offer free bill tracking for CA, KY, AZ (and eventually all 50 states) that allows anyone to view bills filed by state representatives, track the bills as they go through the legislature, vote on bills and contact the bill sponsors, and online tools to facilitate a two-way dialogue between elected officials and their constituents. (2) Second, we offer a crowd-powered online engine where ordinary people can pitch new policy ideas for their local governments, collaborate with other constituents to refine and promote those policies, and ultimately transform that online communication into real world action. We provide a three step ‘pitching process’ for our users to get their ideas on the site. Users can search, view, vote, and track each pitched idea by state, zip, user, or issue area. The collective wisdom of the community acts as a mechanism to bring the most popular and efficient policy ideas to the headlines. Consequently, a user will be able to drill down to their community and have access to the policy ideas being touted by their elected officials along with those policies recommended by fellow citizens.
